Who is behind Expedition Give?

Expedition Give is organized and presented by Giving101, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that's all about creatively giving. We think giving is awesome, and we're putting new twists on the same ol' same ol' to reconnect reignite a world in need.


What's the schedule?

  • 11:00-11:55am: Teams check-in at the start line.
  • 12:00pm: Each team will receive an envelope that contains a list of approximately 25 tasks of different difficulties, time commitments, and types. Each task has an associated point value with it. Return to the finish line before 5:00pm with a task completed correctly and you’ll be awarded points for that task. Complete as many or few tasks as you’d like before returning to the finish line to check in.
  • 5:00pm: Last time to cross the finish line to be eligible for prizes.
  • 5:30pm: Winners announced and prize selection ceremony. The team with the most points earned chooses first from all available prizes, the 2nd place team chooses 2nd, etc. until all prizes are distributed.

Where is it?

For our Atlanta 2011 event, the race will start and end in Technology Square on Georgia Tech's campus. Paid parking is available, as well as being within walking distance of a Marta station. (map)


What will I get?

  • A really fun and challenging day
  • An official, spiffy t-shirt
  • Coupons to local restaurants and attractions
  • Post-event refreshments
  • A race number (must be worn and visible at all times during the event)

  • 2 Hours of Community Service Credit


What should I wear?

Dress appropriate for the weather and the event. You'll be outside running, walking, and completing tasks most of the day. Running / tennis shoes are strongly encouraged.


How much does it cost?

Online registration before September 10th is $45 per participant.

Day-of registration is $60 per participant.


Who can participate?

Anyone can participate although the event is an active race through downtown Atlanta. Youth under the age of 14 can participate with a parent or other adult 18 years or older (teacher, group leader, Big Brother / Big Sister, etc.). Past participants have ranged from 8 to 65 so it definitely can be fun for people of all ages. We will require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before any participant under 18 can start the race.


Do I have to sign a waiver?

Yep - must be completed before you can race.


Refund?

No refunds are offered for any reason. You may however, transfer your registration to another person at no cost, just contact us ().


What should I bring?

Required: digital camera, personal identification, ten dollars or more in cash.

Optional: cell phone, water / snacks, backpack, GPS / maps, laptop, etc.


Will I have to run?

Only if you want to, and it won't hurt if you're vying for a prize, but if you're just looking for a fun Saturday, there's no need to think of this as a marathon.


Do I need to be familiar with the city?

Familiar? Yes. An Expert? Nope. You're welcome to use a map, smartphone, or phone-a-friend for help.


Is there an Order?

No, complete any tasks you'd like in any order you'd like - you're the owner of your destiny.


Will I have to eat things?

Maybe, but nothing gross. Remember that all tasks are optional.


How do we get our t-shirts and race numbers?

Shirts and numbers are given from during checkin (11am-11:55am) on the day of the race.


Just Atlanta?

For 2011, but our vision is to expand to 3 cities in 2012.


What if it rains?

Rain or shine, the race will go on.
